狄金森的詩作以言簡意賅卻意蘊深刻著稱，翻譯成中文因此需要極高的考量。本書所選的狄金森詩作由前衛詩人葦歡完成譯作，著重呈現她最為廣為人知的代表性作品。 以《孤獨是迷人的》為例，該書在2018年由磨鐵讀詩會推出的狄金森詩集《靈魂訪客》的基礎上進行了修訂與擴充，改為中英雙語呈現，並特別邀請沈浩波先生撰寫長篇導讀。讀者在欣賞狄金森獨具一格的美學思考時，也能夠了解她所處時代的詩歌發展脈絡。 本書被收入磨鐵經典第一輯“發光的女性”之中，輯內精選五部作品，其中包含《小婦人》《簡愛》《一間自己的房間》《形影不離》等，在女性文學史上具有重要地位，構成了一條關於女性自我發現、充實與創造的歷史線索。
